Sample Stashing

I love samples, I try to pick them up where ever I can, from shops, out of magazines and beauty counters. It's a great way to try a product without having to splurge on the full size product. I'm pretty sure I must have saved myself a ton of money trying before I buy. I've been building up quite a collection in an old perfume box on my dressing table.

My favourite samples to get are perfume samples and samples of shampoo and conditioner as these are the ones I used most frequently. The perfume sample sizes are the perfect size to throw in your handbag on a night out or if you're popping away for a few days and don't want to take a full size bottle with you. The shampoo and conditioner samples are also great if you're staying in a hotel for a night (obviously one that doesn't provide mini shampoos or conditioners).

I've found that most shops are quite willing to give out sample sizes if you get chatting to the assistants on the counters. The most successful I've been is in Southampton Debenhams where I got five samples of various different perfumes to try when I purchased something from the Urban Decay counter. The shop assistant was lovely and we got chatting for ages!

Another place to get good samples is online, there are some websites that specialise specifically in freebies (although I don't know which sites are trustworthy as I haven't actually used them myself) but when I've placed orders with Benefit and Lush in the past, I've always found a few extra treats in my haul!

How do you feel about samples?
Do you like them or do you just throw them away?

  1. I never used to collect samples but I've recently started doing it and it definitely makes me spend more money as I end up loving most the products haha! Definitely good for travel perfumes though :))
