The Phantom of the Opera

On Saturday I was lucky enough to see the theatre production of The Phantom of the Opera at The Mayflower Theatre in Southampton.

The Phantom of the Opera is my favourite muscial. I just love the music and the narrative.

I've seen it once before a few years ago in London but when I heard that it was going to be showing near me I had to get tickets. The tickets were booked over a year ago but I was still as excited on Saturday as I was when I first heard it was coming to The Mayflower. Our seats this time were in the stalls which were on the flat floor. We were sat directly underneath the chandelier which falls during one of the scenes! When we saw The Phantom in London we were quite far back and didn't get the same experience as we did this time but we still really enjoyed it.

The Mayflower is a theatre situated in the centre of Southampton. Its not as big as those in London but they've made complete use of the stage area by having a set that turned round to create different scenes.

The Phantom of the Opera production which was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber has been running for over 27 years (older than me lol).

If you haven't seen it i'd definitely recommend it. The production is on at The Mayflower until the 16th February but its running in London at Her Majesty's Theatre for the foreseeable future.

Have you been to any theatre productions? Or have you seen Phantom? What did you think?

  1. I've always wanted to see phantom- I wanted to go see it with my boyfriend for Valentines day and I was looking in London, but I didn't think to see if it was on in Southampton!

Definitely going to book tickets now :) thanks for the heads up! xxx
