Today is my husband's 30th birthday. He asked me if he could have a big birthday cake as it was a special age and whilst my skills are improving there was no way I was going to be able to pull off what he wanted which was a cake in the design of F1 driver Lewis Hamilton's helmet!
I contacted Cakes by Suzanne in a nearby town after a recommendation by a work colleague to ask them if they could make the design. I emailed them some photos I found on the internet and after she said she could make it I popped over to pay the deposit. So now its a month on and this is the finished result!
My Mum went with me to collect it as my husband had taken the car to work. It was so nerve wracking taking it home as I was so worried that something was going to happen to it!
I'm so pleased with how its turned out and I can't wait to try some! The cake in total cost £65 which I think is quite reasonable considering some of the other designs I've seen online. In total the cake serves about 30 people so we are going to give some away to our families and work colleagues as we'd be huge fatties if we ate it all!
